About Serenity Compassion Ministries
Serenity Compassion Ministries is a faith-based vocational nonprofit organization established in May 2022. Guided by Christian principles, our ministry is committed to offering compassion, direction, and practical support to individuals and families experiencing difficult or life-altering circumstances.
Our mission is inspired by the Serenity Prayer:
“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”
We are also strengthened by the promise found in Luke 1:37 (NKJV):
For with God nothing will be impossible.”
Driven by faith, Serenity Compassion Ministries takes the initiative in assisting individuals facing challenging social, emotional, and behavioral situations. We strive to connect people with appropriate resources, support services, and opportunities that can help them move toward stability, healing, and personal growth.
Our ministry provides consultation, guidance, and assistance with beginning the intake, application, or registration processes required to access essential services. Regardless of a person’s circumstances, we are committed to helping them understand their options and take the necessary first steps toward receiving support.
Collaboration is central to our work. We seek to partner with community organizations, service providers, and other support networks to ensure that individuals receive compassionate and coordinated assistance. We serve without discrimination based on age, sex, race, personal history, social status, or religious background.
Serenity Compassion Ministries believes that every person deserves to be treated with dignity, kindness, and respect. Our goal is to help those facing hardship discover renewed hope, peace, and the opportunity to live a meaningful and fulfilling life.
As Jesus declared in John 8:12 (NKJV):
“I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
We believe that God can transform difficult circumstances into opportunities for growth, progress, and purpose. Through faith, compassion, and strategic support, Serenity Compassion Ministries encourages individuals to trust God’s direction and remain open to the opportunities He may provide.

IN LOVING MEMORY OF
FERNANDO ALFONSO PORTILLO
Fernando Alfonso Portillo, our cherished son, was born on January 3, 1996, and raised in the close-knit community of Avondale, Arizona. To all who knew and loved him, he was simply known as “Nando.”
Nando had a gift for bringing light into the lives of others. His charismatic personality, warm heart, and genuine compassion made him someone people naturally gravitated toward. Whether someone needed encouragement, understanding, or simply a listening ear, Nando was always there without judgment. His kindness and empathy touched countless lives, and his ability to make others feel valued was one of his greatest gifts.
On August 29, 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Nando’s life came to an untimely end. While his passing left an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who loved him, his legacy of compassion continues to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Serenity Compassion Ministries was founded in loving memory of Nando. It exists to honor the remarkable life he lived and to continue the work that reflected his heart—offering hope, compassion, and support to individuals and families facing life’s most difficult moments. The ministry serves as a lasting reminder of the importance of having access to emergency support services during times of tragedy, grief, and crisis.
Though Nando is no longer with us, his spirit lives on through every act of kindness, every life touched, and every family served through this ministry. He remains forever loved, deeply missed, and eternally present in our hearts.
